Lucky me!!!

Best of Luck, All the best, Good luck... You hear and wish people quite often using these words, don't you?? Well everybody is eager about luck and always believe it play an important part in one's life.
I am a quite lucky person as I see but things are turning a little funny these days.. Will tell you some instances..
I noticed this when the sport teams and individuals I back began to lose form and failed to impress in the last 6 months.

This is a very latest phenomenon and till now I am curiously studying it

First and very shocking is Roger Federer. When I started following him he was playing his tennis in a godly and invincible fashion. The only grand slam away to his reach was French open but never seemed unattainable. Well now look at him after my 2 years of continuous support he is now struggling see through any majors last 1 year.

The next is also some what shocking. Who would have thought Ferrari and Felipe Massa with that impressive pace and form will not be picking up points from the first 3 races of the 2009 season?? Well its official that I am a hardcore Massa fan from last two seasons.

Chelsea have done Wonders by clinching EPL title and was on quite good run last season. Now they are third in the title run and still struggling with some under performers.

Well all these may sound the frustration of a sports fan whose teams failed to succeed last year.

Now look at somethings that happened in real life in last two-three weeks..

Three weeks ago, One fine sunny day I came office quite early coz of a code delivery and got some options for parking inside the campus. Usually I used reach that late I never gets a parking inside rather I struggle to get one outside the campus also. And this day I picked shade of a tree and parked the car which was just washed and polished a day before.
Bangalore was devoid of rain for 6 months till that date and it rained that day. The scene I saw when I came back to pick the car was really paining. As it was the first rain all the dust and leaves which washed down from the tree was on the car and it looked like never washed after it came from assembly line..
Similar rain came back a 5 minutes after I washed and dried my car myself a 1 week after this incident. This time it was not that pathetic as car was not under shade.
Now my room mates used to take umbrella after enquiring about my car wash plan.

Hey its quite late and am going to sleep... to be continued..

"Shit man, A snake bit me!!!"

I always pretend to be an atheist by not going temples, ceremonies and more importantly not praying when somebody is in close proximity. But I had some situations where I have felt that some power that helped me to glide through some exceptionally challenging situations.
New Year has been always a special occasion for me from childhood.
When I was in school I used to watch TV till 12:00 am and after that I went to sleep like a victor (usually I was not allowed to stay that late, Amma wont allow :D).
In my high school I used to go out with friends, usually we on behalf of our “Yonex Arts and Sports Club” pastes greeting posters for the new-year.
When I joined college the celebrations become more daring like having drinks the whole night, riding rashly through the streets shouting “Happy new-year”.
Years went by and I got my job in US technology. It was the first new-year eve I am going to celebrate in Trivandrum and I wanted it to be special with some very special friends of mine.
And what a day it turned out to be!!!
After some very narrow escapes from cops (also busting) and accidents I was very particular that we are not going to hit road this new-year eve. It was the most prepared new-year till this year. We booked one room at KTDC motel in Ponmudi 1 week before the last day of the year. All the planning was done.
As police starts checking in the way up to Ponmudi, We started early on Dec 31st around 7:30 in the tried and tested M800 of Albin. Car was tightly packed with Alby, Anoop, Sujith me and of course lot of beverages that we all are very fond of.
Lalson had a different plan of meeting us in the afternoon. He wanted a chopper* ride uphill and also don’t want to miss the company of Mr. BRUMON who is a big friend of his (Some may disagree).
We checked in the room and started having beer. Food was as costly as gold and quantity was pathetic. To add to the fire we four had quite big souls’ average weight of the group touching 95(Courtesy Alby). But we all were happy. Returned to room and everybody started having honeybee* which was more cost effective. By the time we got the call of Lalson and we ordered another full bottle instead having a threat of police checking on the way. We were reasonably confident that Lalson, Brumon, and our Honeybee will make it. But we were sad to hear after 2 hours from Lalson that our “honey” couldn’t make it. Police thrashed her into the hillside when they checked Lalson and his Bike Uphill.
Clock ticked away and I woke up from sleep in the midst of arguments and shouting of the Alby and Lalson. Sujith was lying beside me.
Everybody greeted me shouting “U m***** F*****, is this for what u came here????”
I was a little annoyed to myself. Even though it is tough maintaining high standards of Albin Anoop and Lalson, I would have done better (Even I have proved it before). But the last night’s planning and discussions tired me.
Well anyway I was feeling rejuvenated then. I took the bottle and had 2-3 pegs. Hmmm…Felt even better. Went to the bed and kicked Mr. Sujith (Mandan as we call him). He also woke up and joined me with vengeance.
We finished the bottle and I was happy that I and Sujith have almost settled scores. Everybody appeared to be ok and there came the next plan from Lalson. We will climb the hill and greet new-year from the hilltop. Lalson is always good making plans and he does enough R&D before announcing it. As in this case he knows that after 5.00pm people won’t be allowed to climb to hilltop and after 6.00pm they will instruct people to go downhill, he also had a solution for the problem. If we walks away from the road and climb small hills on the way to top the guards may not notice and we can be celebrate our New-year uphill.(if he would have diverged this energy towards studies he might have ended up in some premier institutions like IIM. Well leave it; In that case we would have badly missed him…)
What a plan. Even Alby was excited!!! (Normally you can’t excite Alby with any plans other than food and Drinks) well the plan was welcomed by all and we started preparations to climb upwards. Preparations are rather simple u know. None of us had a sweater or pullover to fight cold. Everyone relied upon the power of Honeybee. So we took a bag filled with bottles of water and HB and also packets of cigarettes and snacks. Packing and starting happened in less than 20 minutes. When we came out of the room it was not the same situation when we reached in the morning. Parking space of the motel was full. A lot of people were there inside the beer parlor and outside, Altogether a festival atmosphere. We quickly started climbing through the tile-paved steps of the motel to reach the road which ways to hilltop. Everyone was exhausted as we reached the road coz we had a lot of cigarettes from the morning and also we were not in best of the shape. Well this is how excitement and drinks can motivate you. Everybody was imagining about the cloud nine that we are going to reach after making it to the hilltop. We climbed uphill in a good pace and on the way we met people coming back. They told us that guards have already started marching people down. We were unmoved as we had the plan earlier. As we saw the edges of road towards the hilltop was decreasing we started to climb rocks leaving from road towards hilltop. It was not easy as we thought. Although the atmosphere was enchanting the rocks and steep climbs gave us a tough time. After around 15 minutes of climb we reached an almost plane piece of land were we sat down to rest. We heard the shouting of guards yelling people to come down. But that was not meant for us, actually we climbed a good 100-150 feet and they were not seeing us as atmosphere was foggy there.
We made a change of plan, actually the exhaustion in us made it. We planned to celebrate our new-year in this plane, as the atmosphere is having good ambience and also because we felt safe close to the motel.
Then as we were settled there, the next bottle was opened. Everybody was rushing with glasses, the atmosphere was cold and it was getting into us and the light seems to be fading. Anoop was busy taking photos and Lalson seemed happy posing for everything. Things were going so well and the ambience was wonderful.
Well I also posed for a few photos with the team but more importantly focused on drinking. We almost finished that bottle in no time. Then everybody started like enjoying by singing walking through the bush and Albin and I was trying to go further higher and we were walking on a small barricade of stones. Well suddenly Albin turned to me and told
“Shit man, a snake bit me!!”
I was searching for snake allover the place and I could see nothing. Light was still strong enough to see things and I didn’t notice anything.
I examined the wound I first time noticed that it was not caused from bite of a serpent. It was more like a long scratch which he might have got from bushes.
I looked at Alby, he was crying like a baby n shouting to me. “shit man.. A snake bite me” Soon everybody came and we equivocally pictured him what might have happened.
And at last Alby was convinced after a series of “Shit man” shouts. Alby realized there was no snake there more poisonous than Alby himself. The earlier excitement inside us faded after this incident. We realized we all r now “pambu”s* so we decided to come back to motel and be there for rest of the night. We started to walk downhill slowly, by the time it was dark and we can hardly see the path.
We all are equally tensed now. Although we all disregarded Alby’s words in the heart we were having obvious fear about snake. Well we all were almost running down the hill. Lalson and I reached road first and we waited for others. Everybody reached to a rise just above the road which was about 4 foot high. We instructed everybody to jump from the slope and Alby jumped.
He stepped on a rock, twisted his ankle and fell down. We all tried to lift him up, but without his effort it was a mammoth task. And he started shouting in agony
“My leg is broken, take me to a doctor”
We thought of walking him down to motel and planning from there. But Alby was really crying loud now and we had no other choice.
Now came the deciding time. Only Albin and Anoop are proficient drivers in the group. I know how to drive but had so many limitations. Sujith also told that he won’t be driving in this condition. Now Anoop turned to me
“You are comfortable with Alby’s car right???”
I didn’t answer; I picked the key and ran down to motel where the car was parked. I was sure that I am not seriously intoxicated but I was not sure that I could make it to the nearest hospital which is 25 kms downhill.
Started the car, went uphill to pick Albin. He is still crying like a baby.. This time I felt angry. Even I had a broken hand in my school days but I didn’t cried. Well all men are not equally tough na. I answered myself while picking ( well I don’t know whether we use this word for huge objects) Alby to the car.
We started driving down. I started slowly but kept on increasing the pace as Alby kept on pushing me telling the same words.
“Shit man its paining, take me to doctor”
It was night, new year eve, we were driving down in a good 50 kmph in that narrow twisty and bumpy road with hazard lights on. I was having a drive of my lifetime. I was always very interested in cars and I never drove one in these conditions. I was also fairly new to driving-only had clocked some 1000 kms by that time, this might embarrass Sujith the most because he was the one relied me and sat in the back seat with Alby.
Well things went quite good and we almost reached downhill. Suddenly we saw a cop standing in front after the last hairpin bend.
Police checking!!!
Now came the worst part. I don’t have a Driving License, I am drunk, in fact everybody in the car are.. And I don’t know whether Alby is having the papers for the car. Also we cant ask him in this situation na.. he is only speaking “shit man” from the last 30 minutes.
No other go. Cant turn the car back as they will see. We have a big line in front of us and cops are checking everything slowly.
I suddenly had a plan. I took to right rushed towards the cops.
They greeted as I expected.
“P********** mone vandi side aakada”
I put my head out and told him.
“ Sir , we are rushing to hospital. My friends leg is broken.”
He peeked inside and saw Alby. Thank god !!!
He believed !!
Instructed other cops to give way for our car shouting as this is a hospital case.
Well we hit the road again. That cop told me that Govt hospital is only 10 kilometers away from there. We reached hospital in almost 10 minutes. People in the gate rushed towards the car as they saw the hazard lights. They moved the queue of patients and helped us to take car inside. Two of them even helped Alby to reach doctor.
Doctor was a middle aged lady, was not quite impressed with appearances’ of we three, mostly the fragrance of honeybee and cig we carried to the room.
She asked indifferently “What happened?”
Albin and Sujith instantly answered:
Sujith: He fell down and got his ankle twisted.
Alby: A snake bite me.
. . .
. . .
. . .
Two of them looked each other. I nicely scooted from the room and ran towards car.
Sujith stood there with his famous deadly smile and told
“He is a little drunk”
Alby smiled.
I was rather afraid that the persons’ who helped us inside may hit us seeing the situation. Doctor gave him a pain killer injection and instructed to go to the hospital in Trivandrum and consult the doctor there.
Sujith and Alby came back to the car. People were laughing at us. I was happy to see everyone taking this lightly.
Driving through the city streets, I felt confident as never before. Alby is smiling to me through the mirror as a small boy with plastered leg. Sujith is taking puffs from a cigarette and smiling. We reached near BAR at keshavadasapuram.
I was light on money, braked the car and asked Alby “Da shall we take a pint”
A big absolute “no”
“Okey” I drove.
At 12:00 am 01/01/2006
I am lying on the terrace after helping(to be frank “lifting” ) Alby to the second floor room, tired but relived.
Alby, sleeping happily under the influence seductives'.
Lalson, Anoop, Brumon- Trying to break the lock to enter the room in motel (I kept the key and forgot to give back when we started from Ponmudi. We didn’t had network coverage in Ponmudi that time). They succeeded after a 1 hour battle with Godrej Navtal 8 lever lock and entered room.
Sujith was pushing the bike after running out of petrol(I told him to stay at my place but he was very particular about going home).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chopper- Bullet thunderbird (in this context)
Honeybee - A moderatly cheap brandy
pambu- we call people who are seriously intoxicated

Life @ GEC

First day, not the best
Year was 2000 Month July and day I don’t remember, but was my first day in GEC Thrissur ECE batch. I sat in the class with facial gesture of an aspiring engineer. Benches in the class were not spacious to accommodate 60 of us. I was struggling to sit 6th in a bench of 5 and beside me sat a long, lean but strong person. I introduced myself to him and he told me his name Tomy Devasia and he was from D.B college. Well quite rhyming rite??? Tommy Devasia from D.B college. But be cautious about rhyming sentences they will make to look funny when you are trying to present something serious. Parents were instructed to leave from the room and a person with nice smile entered the room accompanied with a serious looking short person. “I am Dr R” said the person still with a tinge of smile in his face “ and I am HOD of the department of electronics and communication” he spoke to us for the next 10 minutes and in that short but inspiring speech he conveyed us that our’s is the first batch he is supervising as HOD. He seem very excited and genuinely interested while he welcomed us all to the college. He left the class in a hurry and told us he will be catching up soon. The open stage was occupied by the other person who introduced him as Mr. P and he told us he is the staff-coordinator for our batch. And then happened the thing I was most weird of, Introduction session. Well to be frank I am having a fairly good stage fright and I always used to runaway from any situation that demands facing audience. Mr. P as he appeared found a little strict and serious. But with a smile(later it become infamous in whole college) in his face he told us to introduce ourselves one by one in front of the class which has a small platform in front. I was having butterflies not only in stomach, all over the place and I was sitting second bench as first one. And the game started, most of the people looked comfortable with the situation. Everybody introduced themselves telling name, college they studied earlier and some even appended their hobbies to it. It was my turn I went in front pretending confident, holding my breath and my hands behind back and told “I am Libin Mohanan M, I studied my +2 in KMM English School and my hobbies are reading and listening to music”. I stopped and paused for a second and walked back.
I felt relieved, confident and came back to the edge of that bench holding head high. Relief doesn’t last long, Suddenly Mr. P announced this with an unsatiated face. “I expected you people to be more elaborate in introduction, Well just telling name going back is not what I expect from persons who are going to be engineers in 4 years. Well lets stop this and instead we will go for another more interesting type” “Everyone of you have 5 minutes for talking to your friend and you should introduce him in front of class”
I was rather comforted to hear this atleast I am having a companion to share the stage. Also I was having confidence I brought back from the daring venture I just did. Tommy and me started preparing for the new presentation and finally our turn arrived. We both walked to the platform and paused, Tommy Started “This is Libin Mohanan M, He Completed his +2 from KMM English school” and he finished promptly telling that I am a right arm offspin bowler. Nobody before spoke to these details and I stood happily there as class looked keenly to me as what I am going to tell. I started “ This is D.B Devasia from Tommy college” Paused, What have I told?? Nobody other than me know I had miscued it. But Tommy have already started laughing. I corrected, “sorry he is Tommy Devasia from D.B college” and the class erupted to laughter. I stand there with a forged smile acting to be in total control of the situation. Somehow I rushed through the lines, finished, walked back to the seat just peeked on the way back to some faces, people were still not fully recovered from the laughter. That was my first impression on class and Mr. P in his speech afterwards emphasized on good communication skills throwing a glimpse on me.
Well thank god first session is over, this is I was thinking at that point. What about you people? :D

Kick starting...

Hi All.. Thanks for showing up interest and visiting my blog. Ultimately me too joining the group of bloggers..Well I would like to thank Shanker and Pavi for introducing me to this wonderful place where I can share my thoughts, interests and cherished moments with friends and family.
I am Libin Mohanan M, Currently working with Wipro Technologies Bangalore as a Software engineer. In Bangalore you can either see autos all around or software engineers. Well I to belongs to the elite class of software engineers who pretends to be brilliant, busy, stylish, trendy and what not. So now I am living in Bangalore about 15kms away from my office a beautiful place called BTM with four of my friends. Well I am new to blogging and I don’t know what to write exactly. There is every chance of this turning out to be autobiography.
Well let me share some of my interests with you, I love driving, browsing, running, watching Formula1, football, riding bikes, talking with my friends, making new friends(but it is a slow process one will have to go through an interview and some tough tests :D), then what hmmm my new passion watching films that too old and good English films, eating good food(favorite food includes fish, kappa, meals, chicken, spinach..), having drinks with friends, traveling alone, with friends, hearing music well that’s all for now..I will keep on updating this, maybe one day blogging might also get in here.
I see myself as a person who is not much focused, enjoys most of the things I do, interested in giving away my advices though I am not well versed with the situation(may be this skill got inherited from my father), happy to help others if I am in a position to do so and very unorthodox in doing things.
So I think this is good enough for an introduction. Will be posting more on my passions in a detailed manner. I have tried to keep anonymity of most of the persons i talk about here. Please feel free to post comments.
